There are two things Karen and I have been doing together over these past number of weeks and they are: going for our daily drive, usually out in the country, and going for a daily walk.  This morning as we walked it was a little damp and the fog was low to the ground.  As we walked through the fog I was reminded of God’s protection upon my life and the lives of those around me.  It was a reminder that even today, He is covering me, He is not too far away and He is in control of all things.

Jesus said; “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?  Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?  Consider how the wildflowers grow.  They do not labour or spin.  Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you – you of little faith!  And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.  For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.  But seek His kingdom, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:25-33)

In the stark realities of these days it is good to sit in His presence, it is good to be still and know that He is God.  It is good to know that whatever the future holds I am in His hands.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning, new mercies I see:
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided –
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin, and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide.
Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Let’s pray this prayer:

Father, I come to You today, bowing in my heart, asking for protection from the evil one.  Lord, we are assailed moment by moment with images on television, the internet, books and newspapers that leave us vulnerable to sin of every kind.  Surround us with Your divine hedge of protection.  Encompass us round about with Your strength and Your might.  Let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy.  And may You shelter us, that those who love Your name may exult in You.  For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord, You surround him with favour as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)
